Ambassadors Committee

The purpose of the Ambassador's committee is to represent the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce at community, business and Chamber functions and to serve as the Chamber's official ambassadors. The objectives of the Ambassador's are as follows:

  • Conduct and attend all area ground-breaking and ribbon cutting ceremonies
  • Represent the Chamber in all special programs and events
  • Act as host at monthly Business After Hour Mixers and General Membership Luncheons
  • Serve as goodwill ambassadors for the chamber on a daily basis and answer any chamber-related questions that new or potential members may have.
  • Assist the Executive Director in distributing the yearly Chamber Directory and special mailings
  • Partner and coordinate efforts with the Membership Committee to assist and recruit new members into the Chamber
  • Review, restructure if necessary, and enhance the purpose of this committee, creating incentives for commitment to serve as Ambassadors (Ambassador of the quarter, etc.)
  • Act as mentors to new members: Personal calls made by Ambassadors after a member joins SVCC, inviting them to Chamber functions (ie: luncheons, After Hours, & events), introducing them to other members at these functions and answering any new questions they might have about being a member of the Chamber. Generally making them feel welcome and showing the new member the many ways in which they can participate and get the most out of their chamber membership. The Director will provide a new member list with contact information to the Ambassador Chair each month.

Chamber Gala

Purpose/Goal: Organizes the Chamber's celebration of members held in November each year with dinner, dance and entertainment. Sub-committee organizes event raffle and auction.

Government Affairs Committee

Chair: Robert Yerkes, McClellan Building Operating Co.: 425.831.5135

The Chamber will work to enhance the image of business and improve the business climate within the Snoqualmie Valley area by serving as a business advocate. The Governmental Affairs Committee works to establish open and clear dialog with governmental bodies, and to formulate plans of action to effect positive change. Ad hoc subcommittees may be established as needed to organize events such as Candidate Forums, Town Hall Meetings, etc.

The objectives of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Division shall be as follows:

  • Track and analyze city, county, and state legislative issues and recommend positions for the Chamber Board of Directors
  • Compile the chamber's position papers on business concerns for local government
  • Participate in yearly "Chamber Day" trip to Olympia to confer with state leaders
  • Encourage committee participation by North Bend and Snoqualmie city staff and Council members so we can better identify common goals and concerns
  • Remain an active member of the East King County Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition (EKCCCLC) - Monthly meetings for delegates from SVCC - 4th Wed. @ Bellevue Chamber
  • Encourage multiple candidates to consider running for elected positions
  • Organize and host candidates forums when appropriate
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Chamber of Commerce's opinions and views on issues that may impact the city
  • Represent the Chamber of Commerce on issues that affect the SVCC and its membership at city functions or meetings
  • Report to the SVCC Board of Directors

Membership Development & Services Committee

Chair: Kimbrough Kendall, Eastside Adventure Boot Camp, 425.890.5037

This committee will help organize a Membership Recruitment Campaign and assist the Executive Director in identifying new member prospects. The group will also help identify possible new programs of service to members, ways to enhance member relationships, and supply input as to the effect of current programs.

Further objectives of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce Membership & Services Division shall be as follows:

1st Priority: Membership "Blitz" / Ad Campaign (to coincide with Directory timeline)
2nd Priority: Follow-up with Membership Packets to those interested in campaign & membership

  • To work to maintain high member satisfaction and retention
  • To create and maintain programs aimed at actively recruiting new members
  • To maintain volunteer staff dedicated to member recruitment and retention
  • To provide up-to-date membership "kits" & "welcome plants" for new businesses & potential members during "membership blitzes".
  • Develop new "bottom line" services to reward and attract non-members (workshops, health insurance, etc.)
  • Actively study ways to retain and increase membership
  • Report to Board of Directors and Executive Director

Tour de Peaks

Purpose/Goal: Produces the Chamber's annual premier event Tour de Peaks bike ride. Many opportunities to volunteer and/or chair sub-committees including registration, food, entertainment, sponsorships, sanitation, retail, vendors, media, communications, signage, raffle, kids activities and more.

Tourism Committee

The purpose of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee is to expand tourism in the Snoqualmie Valley while maintaining an excellent quality of life. The objectives of the tourism committee are as follows:

#1 Priority - Research other tourism and visitor center web sites for unique or interesting ideas that we might be able to incorporate into the new Valley Tourism Web site.

  • Promote local tourism through brochure development and distribution (2008)
  • Support the development of new overnight accommodations and attractions
  • Keep members informed about local and statewide promotions, programs, attractions, etc.
  • Promote local events
  • Develop tourism packets designed to extend the tourism season (2008)
  • Explore the possibility of hospitality and tourism training
  • Explore the possibility of a series of workshops for members and public to broaden the tourism perspective
  • Coordinate / explore tourism efforts with other Eastside Chambers

Web Site

Purpose/Goal: The Web Site Committee will oversee the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive Web site for the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the Web site will be to:

  • Inform Chamber members of Chamber events
  • Inform the Community of Chamber sponsored events
  • Support and encourage tourist activities which brings business to the Valley
  • Support Chamber members by maintaining an active and accurate business directory

Objectives of the Web Site:

  • Increase visibility of information about the Snoqualmie Valley, its resources, businesses and activities through use of a comprehensive Web site
  • Promote use of the internet as a tool for timely and accessible information exchange
  • Encourage a connection between all Chamber marketing efforts and the Web site
  • Maintain close communication with all other committees to assure pertinent information is available to the Web master in a timely manner
  • Encourage and develop ideas for the Web site to be used as a Chamber fundraising and marketing opportunity (for example, the logo program)
  • Promote and support traffic to the Web site
  • Provide oversight of the Webmaster to assure all work is completed as requested and in a timely manner
  • Provide feedback to the Webmaster regarding the content of the Web site
  • Define the Chamber's Brand and design a marketing program based on that branding
